Sort Out Your Indigestion For Goodposted on 22 November 2007 | posted in In Depth ArticlesHypochlorhydria is a common, affects all age groups, and results in an amazing series of knock-on effects. Firstly, hypochlorhydria gives rise to digestive disturbances such as belching, heartburn, bloating, flatulence and diarrhoea/constipation. Secondly it results in the malabsorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese, selenium, chromium and vitamin B12. Thirdly it is associated with an increased risk of gastrointestinal infections and worm infestation. (See Parasite Articles) Fourthly, and this is where the real trouble starts , it means that protein and carbohydrate digestion in the stomach is inadequate (stomach acid softens protein, activates pepsinogen, provides the right pH for pepsin to function, and hydrolyses disaccharides) and this in turn leads to a low pancreatic output since pancreatic exocrine secretion is triggered by the end-products of pepsin digestion entering the duodenum. As a result the body becomes starved of all nutrients, with obvious consequences the absorption of partially digested food occurs, provoking allergic reactions partially digested food enters the large intestine and encourages the growth of inappropriate bacteria and yeasts (dysbiosis), and the waste products of these organisms then get absorbed (baterial endotoxaemia) and stress the liver and kidneys before being dumped in tissues. And, cellular toxicity is the beginning of death..... Hypochlorhydria may be diagnosed using Vega testing or Kinesiology. Clinical diagnosis is less satisfactory because paradoxically the gastrointestinal symptoms of Hypoacidity may be similar to these of Hyperacidity, with heartburn and "acid stomach" dominating the picture. This may be because hypoacidity allows food to ferment, so producing organic acids, or it may be that in the absence of adequate acid output, food stagnates in the stomach giving plenty of opportunity for reflux to occur, so what little acid there is can irritate the oesophagus. The usual approach to hypochlorhydria is to give Food Enzymes as replacement therapy. We use Nature's Sushine Food Enzymes. While this can be extremely helpful and important to consider for immediate relief and to aid the digestion, it is very important to ensure that the gut is populated with good bacteria. Eat fermented foods such as saurkraut, kefir or Kombuch tea. A very good quality probiotic supplement can be extremely effective. Bifidophilus is an example and should be taken long term. Immediate relief from IndigestionTry drinking a glass of water. This is often more effective and as quick as taking antacids.(Feel free to use this article online and in your email newsletters as long as you leave it intact and do not alter it in anyway.
