Samento - Toa - Free Cat's Claw

posted on 22 November 2007 | posted in In Depth Articles

Samento Toa Free Cat's Claw is the trade name for a variant form of the South American herb, una de gato. It is established that this variant form, which grows only in limited parts of Peru, is devoid of certain types of alkaloid (tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids), and that these alkaloids are normally antagonistic to the beneficial activity of una de gato. It is claimed that Samento is therefore considerably more effective than ordinary una de gato. Click on the links to buy it from this site.

I (Terry Larder) was initially skeptical about the extravagant therapeutic claims being made for Samento (“treats over 100 diseases” etc.), but I am becoming increasingly convinced of its virtues. Although it is extolled much in the area of borreliosis and Lyme disease, we see this product as a powerful immune stimulant and broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, and a welcome addition to our ant infective armamentarium.

Breakthrough in the treatment of autoimmune disorders (such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis)
Clinically effective for Rheumatoid Arthritis
Effective treatment for Lyme Disease

Cat’s claw has been in continual use by the indigenous population of Peru for centuries. In fact, the Ashaninka people have relied upon one specific variety, the one they call ‘Samento’ the ‘healing type’, for more than 2,000 years.

Samento's beneficial properties are mainly attributed to a group of actives called pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids (POA’s) that act on the cellular immune system, and exhibit powerful immune modulating properties. In most Cat’s Claw species, the presence of another group, the tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids (TOA’s) greatly inhibits the action of the POA’s. Samento is certified to be 100% TOA free, and is produced by sustainable harvest in the Peruvian Amazon.

In 2001, a placebo controlled clinical trial was conducted on 40 patients with active rheumatoid arthritis in Austria. The TOA – free Samento brought significant relief from painful and swollen joints, an improvement in condition that continued into the full 52-week period of the trail – which also brought improvements in the Ritchie Index, and morning stiffness. Against a placebo, Samento, Nature’s own improved, TOA-free version of Cat’s Claw, was proven more effective.

A similar trial has been carried out in the UK, and it’s reported in the British Naturopathic Journal. Again the TOA-free form known as Samento had a wide range of therapeutic efficiency, effectively treating 98% of patients whose diverse list of symptoms included rheumatoid arthritis.

Samento has also been a breakthrough for sufferers of the terrible Lyme Disease. This condition may underlie, or be a factor in over 300 chronic health conditions, including Chronic Fatigue, M.S. and Parkinson’s Disease. Lyme is believed to be more prevalent in this country than is officially recognized – nicknamed the ’Great Imitator’ it is a devastating condition that is hard to diagnose, and eludes many doctors. An informal study conducted by the American Lyme Disease Alliance (ALDA) found that most patients diagnosed with CFS were actually suffering from Lyme Disease.

Samento’s immune modulating and anti-inflammatory properties make it helpful for a broad range of health problems.

Samento can be safely combined with most medication, but is not recommended for those with an allergy to Quinilone based antibiotics. Samento has been shown to be highly biologically active.

Dosage for Samento
Take Samento on an empty stomach and start with one drop daily in a glass of water and increase by one drop daily to a dosage of 5-15 drops once daily (preventation and maintenance level) or 15-25 drops twice daily (therapeutic dosage). If a die-off reaction occurs, stop the Samento for three days then restart Samento at one quarter of a drop daily, building by a quarter of a drop daily until 5 drops daily is achieved, when increments of one drop daily may be tolerated until the desired dose level is reached. (one quarter of a drop is achieved by placing one drop in a glass of water and drinking one quarter of the water)
