Eye - Vitreous Floaters

posted on 18 November 2007 | posted in What remedies might help my problem?

The eyeball contains a jelly -like fluid called vitreous humour. It is normally clear. However particles from the retina can manifest in this clear fluid giving the individual the sensation of 'blobs' floating about when they look at anything.

Viterous floaters is the term applied to clumps of cells or coagulated protein within the vitreous humour that can lazily float or even rapidly dart across the field of vision in a most distracting way.

Some authors consider vitreous floaters to be ancient detritus left over from the time the eye was formed in utero and set free by the liquefaction that occurs around the in an aging viterous body; others believe they result from free radical activity, particularly due to heavy metal toxicity, and others believe they represent red blood cell ghosts set free by minor retinal bleeds.

Vitreous floaters are commonly found in nearsighted people and those with food allergies and candidiasis. Horsetail Formula contains horsetail, which is considered to be an important herb to help with floaters, since its silica content helps repair connective tissue in the eye, bilberry and ginkgo biloba for antioxidant activity and to promote blood flow and detoxification of the eye, eyebright as a general eye tonifier, and liver herbs to purify the blood. As nutrient support, vitamin C, chromium and glucosamine are recommended.

For best results, take Horsetail Formula for a minimum of 12 weeks as it takes at least 3 months for debris to clear from the eye chamber.
