Cordyceps sinensis offers a greater spectrum of beneficial activity than any other mushroom except perhaps Reishi. It has anti-bacterial, antiviral, immune-enhancing, antioxidant, anti-tumour, anti-diabetic, and anti-stress properties. It lowers cholestrol levels, and supports the cardiovascular system. It also supports the kidneys, liver, lungs and nerves. Dr Terry Willard considers it is superior to maitake in the treatment of fibroids.

The literature often refers to Cordyceps as helping with tinnitus. This reference appears to be based on the statement by Christopher Hobbs in his book on Medicinal Mushrooms that several people were cured of tinnitus after taking Cordyceps. However this occurred only when there was afluid level in the middle ear, i.e when otitis media caused the tinnitus.
