Chamomile Formula - A is a st John`s wort-free version of Chamomile Formula. Like several foods, St John`s wort enhances the activity of the hepatic cytochrome P450 detoxification system. While this action may be considered desirable in normal circumstances, if a drug that is metabolized by this pathway is concomitantly being taken, St John`s wort may accelerate the degradation of this drug, thereby reducing its efficacy. Another concern is that if a serotonin-reuptake inhibitor such as Prozac is being taken, additive effects resulting in the serotonin syndrome may occur. The safest course of action is therefore to regard St John`s wort as being contraindicated with any oral drug.

In Chamomile Formula -A, St John`s wort has been replaced by daminana and skullcap. Skullcap is a relaxant that helps settle the nervous tension and anxiety that often accompany depression, and combines well with damiana, an anti-depressent herb that is renowned for its excellent stregthening effect on the nervous system.
